Consultant in Data Science
Hello, I'm Anabelle. 👋
My approach is interdisplinary at the intersection of Data Science, Earth Observations and Natural Disasters.

I am currently working as a Consultant at the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) in the Water and Sanitation Division with a focus on water access and quality, and waste related projects under extreme weather shocks and natural disasters.
During my doctoral studies at the University of Illinois, I started to work in the field of data science and machine learning, focusing on analyzing high-frequency data. Following my academic journey, I worked as a researcher and professor in Colombia. During this time, I developed projects addressing disaster risks, particularly landslides, and improving resilience to natural disasters for agricultural sectors, both crucial issues in tropical regions.
Driven by my deepening interest in data science and MLOPs (Machine Learning Operations), I made the transition from academia to become an independent consultant, dedicating myself to innovative projects at the intersection of natural disasters data science and artificial intelligence.
You can find about some of my projects below.
Impact of Landslides and Floods on Food Prices and Water Infrastructure
I explore the effect of landslides and floods on food prices as well as water and sanitation infrastructures.
Latin American megacities are increasingly exposed to water scarcity.
I examine the relationship between surface water levels and the socio-economic impacts of water scarcity in large cities.
